Summer Countdown

There are 24 days left in August (not counting today) and Summer is counting down. I’m on a quest to do something Summery every day til Summer ends (which by my calculations is September 21st - I calculated this by setting up a sun dial and buying a few ashtoreth poles. Then just went to Wikianswers instead). Growing up in the South and going back to school in late August means that I get my Summer-ending anxiety about now. So the Squeeze-It-Out-Of-Summer Summer Ending Quest beginneth.

And there are 25 days left in Summer counting today. Because, according to this song, Summer starts TODAY. Now I need to go swim, eat some watermelon, or at least put on suntan lotion.

I saw Muse with my friend Bill at the Austin City Limits show last year. I didn’t listen to Muse that much before seeing them and I was blown away. It was one of the best shows I’ve been to in my life. Here’s a picture from the show where Bill was literally being blown away:

My friend runs XversusY, a daily tally website where he pits two things against each other and you vote for your favorite to win. Today’s matchup is close to my heart: John Cougar Mellencamp vs. the original British Sassbag, Rod Stewart. Because of Miles, I have undying devotion to The Rod and was just talking last week about how I love him and his music. Rod’s ahead in the polls now but go vote. Cut across Shorty, cut across. I’m back from Costa Rica. It was incredibly beautiful and relaxing. I’ll put pictures up soon (along with my Europe pictures that haven’t made it up yet).
